Repression in St. Paul

Many bloggers have been keeping closer tabs than I on how the "authorities" treated protesters at the Republican National Convention. It appears the treatment was outrageously heavy-handed. Rad Geek's post on the subject is here. Follow the links!

Come and see the violence inherent in the system!

Been seeing reports on the way Ron Paul Delegates to the RNC were mistreated, had property taken, etc., by FEDERAL Secret Service Agents. And in the early reports came info that the "theme" of the Repub convention was going to be "for Country". Seen in context, after McCain's speech, in which he described his "transformation" from a selfish man to a man who belonged to "his country", it seems clear that this speech was less an expression of trials in a VC cell, and more a premeditated, public relations ploy to wrap listeners up in a blanket of "sacrifice for your country", "I'm less important than America" rhetoric. Dangerous stuff, and part of what fits as the Neocon MO. Thanks for posting this, Sheldon!

McCain's sacrifice theme is right out of Mussolini and Theodore Roosevelt. It's amazing that this is getting such little notice.

The pop media didn't cover it, but YOU did! Thanks, Sheldon!

+1 for the Monty Python & The Holy Grail reference. One of the best scenes in movie history -- the first time I heard the term "anarcho-syndicalist," I was 10 years old and had no idea what it meant.
