America's Counter-Revolution
The Constitution Revisited

From the back cover:

This book challenges the assumption that the Constitution was a landmark in the struggle for liberty. Instead, Sheldon Richman argues, it was the product of a counter-revolution, a setback for the radicalism represented by America’s break with the British empire. Drawing on careful, credible historical scholarship and contemporary political analysis, Richman suggests that this counter-revolution was the work of conservatives who sought a nation of “power, consequence, and grandeur.” America’s Counter-Revolution makes a persuasive case that the Constitution was a victory not for liberty but for the agendas and interests of a militaristic, aristocratic, privilege-seeking ruling class.

Idiotic Right-Wing

The right-wing claim that Obama has mishandled the Arab Spring is based on the idiotic idea that any president could have "handled" it.

You're an idiot. They knew it was going to happen, did nothing to prevent it, and then, worst of all, fed the media a stupid lie about a movie to deflect criticism and even score some cheap political points themselves. The beating Obama is taking is pure poetic justice.

I'd say it's Romney who's taking the beating. Nothing you say is responsive to my post.

Many empires have met their end in the middle east. Most didn't play fair to boot. Russia, the British, yada, yada. I'm with you. No president could control that region. Reagan had sense enough to pull the hell out of Beirut, and Putin is still licking his wounds over his defeated superpowers misguided adventure there. Is it possible that if the US stopped administering drone strikes on their sovereign ground, they might refrain from attacks on embassy sovereign territory as well? What do the innocent citizens there think of a President who declares a license to assassinate their people, at will, with no due process? What would we think of their leader chasing us down with drones on the freeways of LA or Dallas?

Would we be meddling in their affairs if they had no oil? Oops!
