Just Wondering
Would Bernie Madoff's prospective victims have been better or worse off had they lived in a world with no government oversight of investment matters whatsoever?
Well, I would argue we have the worst of both of those choices. We have the illusion of regulation where those who are playing the Wall Street game make up the rules by which they play and they are constantly changing them. Additionally when they are caught (very rarely) breaking the rules they pay a small fine and go back to doing exactly the same things.
