Proudly delegitimizing the state since 2005 "Aye, free! Free as a tethered ass!" —W.S. Frank Wisner, a special envoy for Barack Obama, the US president, has said Hosni Mubarak "must stay in office to steer" a process of gathering "national consensus around the preconditions" for the way forward.
Preconditions for consensus? What kind of Newspeak is that? The precondition for consensus is consensus. Lots of people would like to "steer" it.Hosni Mubarak is just one of those - one who, for the moment, happens to be "in office." Mubarak has nothing to do with steering consensus. And neither does his "office." Nor anyone else's office, either.
