A Diversion
To change the subject, I've taken up the electric bass. Some guys my age buy sports cars, motorcycles, or sailboats. Here's my far-less-dangerous new toy, a Fender Squier Jazz Bass.
Seriously, I play guitar and woodwinds. I know Jake Hornberger rocks out on the keyboards. We could have a monster freedom band! Must put it on the agenda at the next FFF or FEE conference.
Sabbath is like Guitar 101. If you can play Sabbath's greatest hits, you know 95% of rock guitar.
Sheldon, I like the band names, but if I can make a suggestion, polysyllaby should probably be kept to a minimum. You don't want to exclude the more literacy-challenged in society.
Police and thieves in the streets Oh yeah! Scaring the nation with their guns and ammunition Police and thieves in the street Oh yeah! Fighting the nation with their guns and ammunition
From genesis to revelation The next generation will be hear me From genesis to revelation The next generation will be hear me
And all the crowd comes in day by day No one stop it in anyway And all the peacemaker turn war officer Hear what I say
"We're gettin' the band back together!"
ReplyDelete"We're on a mission from God."
I'm in.

Any more?
Anarchy in the UK -- Sex Pistols
ReplyDelete2 + 2 = ? -- Bob Seger
I Can't Drive 55 -- Sammy Hagar
Another Brick in the Wall, pt. 2 -- Pink Floyd
Us and Them -- Pink Floyd
What's Goin' On -- Marvin Gaye
Favorite Son -- CCR
These songs are all fairly simple and are great ones for someone just starting out to try. I could go on for hours. :)
Rockingham Whigs? OK. A couple I've brainstormed recently:
ReplyDeleteWoodda Coodda Shoodda
Roy Hobbs and The Naturals
Good Intentions
PCT (Petrified Cat Turds)
When brainstorming, there are no bad ideas. Well ... that may debatable.
Unintended Consequences

Ben, I don't know those! Bring me the CDs.
ReplyDeleteWar Pigs .... mmm hmm!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Ben is related to Sheldon.
Ben has great musical taste, if I may say so.

James, you're probably right. I don't know that Ben guy. The last name is one of the bizarre coincidences. ;)

ReplyDeleteBut you repeat yourself.
About this alleged relationship between Ben and Sheldon, I demand an investigation. :)
Sheldon, I think it is a strong testament to music that this thread has generated the most comments on your blog of late.
Or a strong testament against my alleged political wisdom. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat about Body Count's "Cop Killer"?
